Easter update
19 Apr 2024
homeSadly no photos in this update, just a high level summary of everything that has happened since March (although I had to refer to the calendar, seems to have been a few things going on!):
- My daughter performed in the school musical production: 'Freaky Friday' - She did a great job and the production was really well done. I had to attend on my own for reasons I'll explain later but I really enjoyed it!
- The whole family managed to pick up pneumonia - my wife seemed to have the worst of it but at one stage the whole family was sick in bed. Dr said that there had been a spike in cases in town so not sure how we managed to pick it up (probably kids brought it home from school) but it was a couple of weeks of coughing and lethargy. Normally there is a slight delay so if one of us gets sick, the others can help out but to have the whole family down, it was a nightmare!
- I completed a CPR refresher course - as a work first-aider I am supposed to attend annually to keep up-to-date. The training defibrillators are not nearly as loud as the one we have at work but it was funny to hear all 6 defibrillators shouting 'press' repeatedly at the same time during the session, it was really hard to stay in time!
- Easter break was good, a massive meal with family (I may have fallen asleep on the couch in a food coma at some point in the afternoon), an Easter egg hunt, A few days off to enjoy with the kids, and a great time had by all.
- I played in the over 40's masters hockey competition in Wollongong - 4 games of hockey in two days! It clashed with my daughters musical so I had to attend the first session on Wed night before driving down to Wollongong the following day. We didn't end up getting through to the grand final but we were all carrying injuries so that may have been for the best! It poured with rain the first day, we were all soaked and the ground ended up getting flooded so games on the Sat were shortened but it was a great time and I really enjoyed it. I have volunteered to play for o45's in a few weeks so looking forward to that as well!
- Speaking of hockey, the local club season has begun and we are one game in - we have a few new faces in the team which is great and while I have a few injuries I am carrying into the season, I am looking forward to playing and getting my fitness back up.
