Something I have seen on a few other personal sites is the concept of a 'now' page. What am I doing at the moment? Books I'm reading, movies (cinema) that I have seen or series I'm watching, games I'm playing, etc. Since I usually post something every month or so, I am committing to updating this list on a monthly basis as it is likely to change and become out of date.

Here is my list for September 2026:

Book:
I am on the last book of the The Magicians Guide by Trudi Canavan trilogy. Something I have read before and I really enjoy the story but my wife recently recommended it to our daughter so we have all decided to read it together. My daughter thought it was too slow so ended up reading another series but I'm about 60% through the final book and am enjoying it again.
Movie:
Watched Mortal Kombat II the other night and while there are parts of the movie that I thought were not that great, I still enjoyed it. I loved all the fight backgrounds, they were awesome throwbacks to the original games which I loved, action and fatalities were very cool. I think they could have done more with Johnny Cage though.
Series:
Haven't really been watching much in terms of series this month - see games below
Games:
My son recently asked to play Mass Effect - was happy to help him through it but he lost interest pretty early on in the 1st game. I went on to play through the series on my computer (he was playing it on the playstation and I didn't want to confuse the saved games). Still one of my all time favourites and even though I have finished the series multiple times, I am still finding scenarios/scenes that I haven't encounted before. I have been focusing on this rather than watching much tv/streaming - nearly finished Mass Effect 3; it's getting tense and I love it!
Learning:
I have been doing some learning on Flask to create websites. I have been working on a reporting dashboard website that converts an excel export into a database that is then used to create reports - a monthly line graph, an annual total column and a data table below for each data category (using Google charts). These are all split into different categories based on teams so you can navigate to your specific area rather than look at all categories on a single page. I may look at rolling it out in the future, we shall see.
Other:
I have been doing some goal keeping for my hockey team. I have been really enjoying keeping, may not be the best at it but it is good fun! I also got some Lego for my birthday - I'll post about it at some point.
