Quick update
A few things going on at the moment. They probably could do with their own posts but for brevity, here is a quick list of things taking up space in my brain:
- We won the hockey grand final which was amazing! I also got the players player award for the year. An awesome year with a great bunch of guys.
- Pool installation is progressing. We are up to the point where the water pump has been installed, most of the tiling done and most of the fencing. Managed to sneak in a swim over the weekend and I can't wait for it to be all good to go!
- I have been taking a course in Godot - a free and open-source game engine which provides a platform for building 2D and 3D games. It has been a challenge but I have been enjoying it. Making my own game is still a long way off though.
- I have also signed up to a micro-credential course through work - Data Driven Storytelling. A focus on data journalism and how to use data to tell a story. Really interesting and I hope to apply a lot of it to work projects in the future!
- After Hockey season, I have also started going for walks first thing in the morning (most days) - this has definitely helped to keep my steps up for the day, but as a consequence, I have also been listening to a lot more audiobooks, which I have been enjoying as well!
- Work wise, we have been busy with subscription renewals, negotiations and getting stuck into finalising goals and strategies for next year. Given the budget cuts and everything else that has been happening this year in both work and personal circles, I am really looking forward to the Christmas break. It feels like it has been a long year.
That is it for this one. A short list but I wanted to get it down now rather than get to the end of the year and forget it all!
