Spring has sprung

After a pretty dismal, cold and wet Winter, we are finally heading into Spring! The sun is noticeably rising earlier and setting later, the weather seems to have improved (although we are forecast for rain for the rest of the week) and there just seems to be more energy and optimism around. We can finally walk out into the backyard without multiple layers, the grass is starting to grow again (which means mowing but I really don't mind driving around on the ride-on with music playing for an hour or so!), the Magpies are also starting to swoop but only if you are riding a bike down the road, they leave us alone in our yard. The change in seasons even inspired the kids to get outside and do some painting of the cubby house climbing wall!

Sadly, it has meant the end of the hockey season for me. I have been playing in both tier 1 and tier 2 this year so plenty of games which has kept me busy during most weekends. I would like to think I have improved over the course of the season, my fitness has definitely improved and I lost a bit of weight from all the running around, hopefully my skills have improved as well. Sadly we didn't make it into the finals for either tier this year but it has been a lot of fun and its been great to play with a great bunch of guys. It means that I won't be running around nearly as much so I will need to find some other activity to burn some calories. I haven't quite figured out what that will be yet. My daughter and I have a habit of comparing steps for the day so that will hopefully spur my competitivenes to find something to beat her!

The other thing about heading into Spring is that it starts to get busy. For work, we are heading into renewals season - all of the subscriptions and packages have to be approved for next year and this means emails to all the powers that be, tracking statuses, lots of questions, and with a lot of new people who haven't been through the process before, I am worried it is going to be a really tough time for the team. I need to remember to bring in lots of chocolates! We also have a few people going on leave so while it gives some an opportunity for higher duties, a lot of tasks will need to be shared so generally a lot of disruption in the office.
On the home front, we have a lot of events coming up, I was going to my hockey clubs presentation night but I was double booked with a dinner with family and friends. There are also school events and a number of visits to Sydney booked for various kid activities. There are hardly any weekends up until the end of the year without something happening. While it is nice there is so much happening, it would be nice to have a day or two off to maybe go for a bike ride or something. We will see how it goes.
