Everything and Nothing.
09 May 2019
homeBeen so busy recently with kids birthdays, travelling and work.
I traveled to Sydney early Sat morning for a 12-8pm beer tasting birthday bash for a mate I rarely get to hang out with anymore.
It was an awesome day! I got to catch up with some friends that I don’t see very often and as I am not a huge user of social media to stay in touch I don't tend to talk to them very often anymore.
I wasn’t feeling the best but made it till late (late as in past my usual bedtime which seems to get earlier with more kids!) and I didn’t get too drunk, so it's a win!
I found it funny that when you catch up with friends that you haven't seen for ages, the first question you get asked is usually “Whats been happening?” or “what have you been up to?” and I always find it hard to summarise everything that’s happened in the time that I saw them last into a digestible sentence. This question occurred a few times last weekend, I could only come up with ‘everything and nothing’ as in heaps of stuff but I can’t think of anything that would really be of interest.
I should probably prepare statements ahead of time… or maybe just lead with some major event? In retrospect, there is no way you could talk about everything, and you want to swap stories, not just talk about yourself the whole night. I think I should just focus on a single story and go from there. Preperation seems like hard work but hopefully I remember not to get overloaded with 'everything' next time someone asks 'What have you been up to?'
